Technical SEO

What is technical SEO?

Technical SEO refers to things that have to do with the technical setup of your website and your server.

Technical SEOs and developers understand the best search engine optimization (SEO) strategies to do with the nuts and bolts of your website (the things behind the scenes that most people don’t see but Google loves).

This means ensuring that meta tags (Knowledge Graph, Open graph, Twitter card) are in place, you have a sitemap and it’s submitted to Google, uploaded images are optimized for peak performance, and any analytics programs (Google analytics, search console, Microsoft clarity) are activated, any useful schemas are in use, your website is easy to navigate, your website is mobile-friendly. and a whole load more.

The goal is to improve the visibility of a website in search engines and drive more traffic.

It’s usually pretty boring stuff.

The Good News

The good news is that technical SEO is a very important part of SEO and usually only needs to be configured one time.

The work is going to be very technical in nature, and you’re probably not going to understand it (so you’re probably not going to be able to ask questions about it).

If you use WordPress you can do it yourself by using a couple of WordPress plugins (and it’s not going to be as technical).

The bad news

If you are not a technical person the best way to handle technical SEO is to get someone to do it for you for a fee.
